Character Counter is a free online tool, that measures how many letters and words are in your text. With it you can quickly find the number of characters, words, sentences and paragraphs. Whether you write a blog or academic article, this counter helps you easily see the total of everything.

The program analyses the entered text and shows the total length. Unlike a simple word counter it focuses on the raw number of characters. Some tools tell between characters with spaces and without them, what is more important than you could imagine.
How to Use a Character Counter
Using such a tool is very easy. You only type or paste text in the box, choose whether to include spaces, and right away receive the result. There are also Android apps for counting words and paragraphs.
Some of them even find repeated elements, like duplicate words or sentences.
This counter is useful for social media, meta descriptions, titles, SMS drafts and product descriptions, all places where the exact length matters more than the number of words. Facebook allows posts up to 63,206 characters, but short meta descriptions (up to 155 characters) are more engaging. LinkedIn now allwos up to 3,000 characters for professional messages, while Quora limits questions to 300.
When Twitter allowed only 140 characters, the most common length of a tweet was 34. Now, when the limit is 280, the most common length is 33 characters.
On Reddit, text posts can have up to 40,000 characters, while comments are limited too 10,000. Because Reddit does not have its own counter, folks often use outside websites. Even so, even if an outside tool says that the text is under the limit, Reddit sometimes warns that it is too long.
This happens because Fancy Pants mode and Markdown mode count characters differently. Special formats, like tables or images, can also affect the total in unclear ways.
On Goodreads, reviews can have up to 20,000 characters. It is strange that the counter sometimes allows you to type 20,001 characters, but the system rejects that when you try to send the form. Remember, word count only looks for spaces between words, but character count counts everything.
