The TOEFL test estimates academic English skills, so that universities and employers can estimate readiness for actual communication. The written part forms one of its sections. It gives maximum 30 points, so 25 % of the whole TOEFL score.
This section is made up of two tasks. The first, Integrated Writing, require 20 minutes. The second, Academic Discussion, last 10 minutes.

does not exist strict rule about the word count for good note. You commonly urge brevity. For proper score recommend to write around 280 words.
Some offers 300 until 350 words, but you must not follow that strictly. For some tasks suggest at least 120 words. Do not punish long answers.
For good score matters to add details, especially from the lesson, and reduce grammatical mistakes and language troubles. Use subordinating conjunctions as “while” or “when” and coordinating ones as “but” or “so” help. With perfect grammar and response about the theme, that almost always gives perfect 5.0 points of the TOEFL e-rater.
